CYO Sports is one component of our parish's comprehensive youth ministry program which enables the partnership of parents, coaches, priests, religious, teachers, and adult leaders to manage and support a sports program that allows youth to grow in their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and the Catholic Faith.
When COVID-19 hit this winter, we did not think any of us thought we would still be talking about it as the 2020-2021 school and sports season was upon us, yet it continues, and we know this can be an anxious and confusing time for many. We want to be clear that the St. Anastasia CYO Board is working to stay on top of issues related to COVID-19 and the health and safety of you and your family remains our top priority. The daily changes of rules and restrictions has put youth sports organizations in a very difficult and confusing situation.
As of July 31, the Philadelphia Archdiocese has decided to suspend all competition between programs for the foreseeable future. This means that CYO teams are not permitted to schedule, coordinate, or carry out games or matches with any other CYO programs for any reason.
After careful consideration with our current fall coaches and our CYO board, we have decided to cancel all fall sports and open gym times until further notice. All families that have paid Fall registration fees will be refunded as quick as we can process them. We will continue to evaluate our next steps and keep everyone updated if things change for any reason.
